Professional Rug Cleaning Services in Chicago and Surrounding Suburbs
Chicago’s changing seasons can take a toll on rugs inside busy homes and apartments. Snow, road salt, moisture, pollen, and urban dust from areas near Downtown Chicago, Lincoln Park, and the Magnificent Mile often settle deep into rug fibers over time. Combined with pets, foot traffic, and indoor heating, rugs can gradually lose their softness, color, and freshness. Professional rug cleaning in Chicago helps remove embedded dirt, allergens, odors, and residue while protecting delicate fibers and extending the life of your rugs.
At Green-Gen Carpet & Fine Rug Cleaning, we provide professional rug cleaning throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. With over 15 years of experience, IICRC-certified technicians, and hundreds of 5-star Google reviews, our team offers specialized care for a wide range of rugs. We use eco-friendly cleaning methods and appropriate solutions to care for delicate and natural fibers.
Whether you need rug odor treatment service, oriental rug cleaning, or fine area rug cleaning, our trained rug cleaning specialists deliver safe, thorough, and dependable results. Contact our team today to request a free rug cleaning quote in Chicago or the surrounding suburbs.
Professional Oriental Rug Cleaning
Our oriental rug cleaning process is designed to safely clean delicate fibers, dyes, and handmade materials without causing damage. We use specialized techniques to remove embedded soil, allergens, and odors while preserving texture and color.
Professional Area Rug Cleaning
Our area rug cleaning services help restore freshness, softness, and appearance while removing deep-seated dirt and buildup. From modern rugs to delicate heirloom pieces, we tailor the cleaning method to the rug’s material and condition for safer, longer-lasting results. Our team serves homes across Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.
Fine Rug Cleaning
Professional rug cleaning isn’t a simple process. It takes skill, dedication, and hours of work. We pride ourselves on delivering that kind of service for each client and provide an exceptional, thorough cleaning for every rug we take in. We work with specialty fibers, such as wool and silk, and have years of experience in rug cleaning.
Each rug gets treated as an individual piece. There’s no need to worry about your beloved rug being tossed in with others. It won’t be battered around in a washing machine or be lumped in with someone else’s rugs.
Every step of our process is purposeful, and each piece receives the same detailed cleaning. Our multi-step process eliminates dirt, foreign material, stains, and odors.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How often should I have my area rugs professionally cleaned in Chicago?
For most homes in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, Green-Gen recommends professional rug cleaning every 12 to 18 months. However, rugs in high-traffic areas or homes with children, pets, or allergy sufferers may benefit from cleaning every 6 to 12 months. Regular cleaning helps remove embedded dirt, allergens, and pollutants that ordinary vacuuming cannot reach, extending the life and beauty of your investment.
2. Can professional rug cleaning remove pet urine odors completely?
Yes. At Green-Gen Carpet & Fine Rug Cleaning, we use specialized treatments designed to target pet urine contamination deep within rug fibers and backing. Unlike products that simply mask odors, our process focuses on eliminating the source of the smell. For eligible pet-related odor issues, we even stand behind our work with a pet odor removal guarantee, giving Chicago homeowners added peace of mind.
3. Is rug cleaning safe for wool, Oriental, and delicate rugs?
Absolutely. Fine rugs require specialized care, and Green-Gen's trained technicians understand the unique cleaning requirements of wool, silk, Oriental, Persian, and other delicate rug materials. We use eco-friendly cleaning solutions and customized cleaning methods to protect dyes, preserve fibers, and maintain the integrity of each rug throughout the cleaning process.
4. Do you offer rug pickup and delivery services in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs?
Yes. Green-Gen provides free pickup and delivery for qualifying off-site rug cleaning services throughout Chicago and many surrounding suburbs. This convenient option allows your rug to receive a thorough cleaning in a controlled environment while saving you time and effort. Our team carefully handles every rug from pickup to return.
5. How long does professional rug cleaning take?
The timeline depends on the rug's size, material, and condition. Most off-site rug cleaning projects are completed within a few days, while certain specialty treatments or restoration work may require additional time. During your consultation, Green-Gen will provide an estimated turnaround time so you know exactly what to expect.
